Tenders are invited by the local papers for the supply of ironwork for the Te Arbh'a Bridge.
The Christchurch Press is very severe on Judge Gillies' action in replying to the Law Society. Tt concludes an article by expressing the opinion that to burlesque anything he says or does, would be to paint the lily, and gild refined gold.
It is understood that the Colonial Treasurer is about to go on a stumping tour through the Middle Island.
Mr Loveday, well known at the Thames in early days, was last night elected Captain of the Wellington Guards.
