The customary speech is to be delivered to Parliament to day by His Excellency the Governor. Messrs Service and Berry had another interview yesterday, when the amalgamation of their parties was agreed upon, but details were not fully arranged. ■
The Argus today comments strongly on the unreadiness of Victorians to play in a final match between a combined Austra - lian team and the English Eleven. The following is the latest betting on the Australian Cvp :—Navigator, 3 to 2; Willeroo, First Water, and Guesswork, lOtol.

Messrs Golds borough and Co. (Limited) report that at their wool sale held yesterday 1800 bales were disposed of. Prices were well maintained, greasy realising as high as ll|d, and scoured up to 2s lid. Messrs C. S. Boss and Co., of Melbourne, report sales of timber, ex Maria Virginia, at the following average prices per 100 feet:—Super, sawn flitches, 12s 3d; "sawn boards, 1 inch, 15s; dressed boards, | inch, 18s 6d; ditto., f inch, 13s 9d; ditto., finch, 12s. The timber market is very dull.
Melbourne, Yesterday. It has transpired that at a caucus of the Constitutionalists held today the proposed coalition with the Liberal party was definitely agreed to. A hope was expressed that the Government would at once resign, but, if otherwise, it was decided that a direct vote of want of coufidence should be proposed in the House at an early date.
Adelaide, Yesterday. Arrived, this afternoon: The Orient steamer Aphalonia, from Plymouth, Jan. io.
Albany, Yesterday. The P. and O. Company's steamer Paramatta arrived in King George's Sound this morning with the inward mails, via Brindisi and Suez, dated London, January 26. '.
