Yesterday.
John Doyle, a man following the occupation of a ca.penter at a farm in Lake Wanaka d'strict, was arrrsted last Thurs day on a charge of having fiiv d a revolver at one Angus J. Robertson, with intent <o do him gx'evious bodily harm. It seems that the men were just about ret'rlog between 11 acd 12 o'clock on Wednesday n'ght when Doyle suddenly rashed out of his room with a revolver, and presech d it clo.^e to Robertson's bo: d. He nul'ed the trigger and the cap snapped, but fortunately the chamber was em;nty. Finding this, Doyle made a dash at Robertson's face with the we.pon, and hit him a Dc^ty blow. The revolver we# fuken from the assailant by a wi'ness of the assault. On the examinaliou i% was found that the revolver was louded, in. three chambers, the others being emp:y. The hammer falling on one of these latter usdoubledly saved Robe tson's life, as ihe muzzle was held wiihin a few inches of the head. Doyle is now lodg-d in Clyde' grol, and will be brought before Major Keddell, R.M., on Friday.
