OAMARU.
Yesterday
A 5-rooraed cottage at Otepia was burned down this morning. The Mayor ordered oat the brigade, but they arrived too late. It is supposed to 1 have originated by (he logs falling from the fireplace. The koase was occupied by J. Russell, foreman of the tannery adjoining, and owned by J. Sutter. A few articles of furniture were saved, but the house is totally destroyed. The insurances are :—- House, £150 in the Royal; furniture, £80 in the Standard. In neither case is the loss covered.
