Yesterday
The Wellington arrived last night and transhipped some stock to the Kotorua, which immediately left for Fiji. The Wellington sails at 5 p.m.
The shipping have their flags half-mast high on account of the drowning of the captain of the Staffa.
Visitors from Auckland will not only have a chance of viewing the regatta, bat will also have an opportunity of visiting the coal mines. Messrs Larkin and O'Brien, contractors for the Kawakawa railway, which is nearly completed, have agreed to allow a special train to run from the terminus. Visitors can also go up by their ballast engine. A race with whaleboats with paddles has been arranged, and will be an amusing feature of the day's sport. I
