A meeting of the members of the Constitutional party was held yesterday. Twenty persons were present. Various speakers strongly condemned the Govern* raent in obtaining a dissolution, and it was finally resolved —some of those present dissenting— "to entirely sever connection with the Government, and make no change in the Conservative programme." The Hon. J. G. Francis, it is stated, offers to retire from the leadership of the party, and it is understood that he only retains the position until after the general election, when Mr Service will resume the leadership. No mention was made of coalition with the Berry party. A vessel supposed to be the ship Berengaria, 1310 tons, bound from Loudou to this port, is ashore at Barwon Heads. The life boat has gone to her assistance.
