Mr Allan McLean's mare Louie was accidentally omitted from the nominations for the Wellington Racing Club Handicap. Mr Ha'ely has accepted the position of ttandicapper for the coming meeting.
i It is announced that Messrs J. Kitchen and Sons, of Wellington, and Messrs McLeod'Bros., of Dunedin, soap and ..candle manufacturers, have amalgamated their concerns, and intend to form a com paay to work the 'business of both branches.
The heat here yes'erday was very oppressive; it registered 125 degrees in the sun.
At the Education Committee meeting of householders, it was resolved that an evening school for youths who have left school should be provided. ; .
