WELLINGTON.

This day

The weather is fine, but a fresh N .E. breeze is blowing. The day is generally observed as a holiday, being the anniversary of the Colony and the province. The regatta is proceeding. Several races have been started, but none are yet decided. In the Coasters' Race five started; the wind seemed to suit the Torea, which went off in fine style, and is now coming up with a lead. On the first round the Clematis was a good second to windward. ■The Naval Brigade cutter upset in the harbour, but all on board were saved.
