Sydney, This day. In the Legislative Assembly last night, A. Cameron was re-elected Chairman of Committees. A Bill granting supply to the amount of £991,000 was passed through all its stages, and it was announced that the Treasurer would deliver his Financial Statement on the 25th inst. . Adelaide, This day. There is but little further information regarding the gold disoovery. A man named Hinton (sic), who was formerly second steward of the s.s. Tararua, died of consumption on Sunday last. He had been for a long time under police surveillance. The gold consists of a single ingot, and was contained in an iron-bound box. It is doubted whether Hinton was the sole robber, and police are making an investigation into the matter.

Mr G. T. Vernon will not play for the English team in the international match commencing to-day.

Mr H. Copeland, Minister for Public Works, who was recently defeated for Newton, offered himself as a candidate for East Sydney, a vacancy having occurred in the representation of that constituency by the resignation of Mr Mcllhone, who takes his seat as a member for the Upper Hunter. Dr Ren wick, iate secretary for Mines, opposes the election of Mr Copeland for East Sydney.
Heavy rains have fallen during the last twenty four .hours throughout the colony. , Adelaide, Thursday. The police have discovered a quantity of gold amounting to 2760zs which it is alleged formed port of the bullion stolen from the ill fated Union Co's,, steamship Tararua some time before the loss of that vessel. It appears that a man named Hunter, who formerly was steward on board, the Tararua, died on Sunday last, and before his death-ho requested his friends to forward to his brother in San Francisco a box, the contents of which he dept secret. Suspicion being aroused, and the box opened was found to contain the gold, and information was given to the police.
