London, November 14 The Arabs employed.at fort Saidiu the

work of coaling steam* rs passing through the Suez Canal have for some time past been insubordinate in their conduct, and have caused much delay to the trafta of the Canal through refusing to work when requested by masters of ressels. After being repeatedly warned without any improvement taking place in their conduct the Canal Company have dispensed with the services of all the natives employed in connection with the shipping at Port daid, and have replaced them by Europeans. The French. Government are reducing the amount of allowance paid to the religious bodies subsidised by the State and in consequence the salary of the Archbishop of Paris will be reduced by the sum of 15,000 francs per annum. The inhabitants of Jamaica bave petitioned the Imperial Government to reappoint Sir Anthony Musgrave Gofernor of the Island when his present term of office expires. The prayers of the petitioners will not be acceded to, as it has been definitely decided to appoint Sir A. Gordon, the present Governor of New Zealand, as Sir A. Musgrave's successor.

The policy of Mr Scanlon's Government with reference to the Basuto difficulty is very unpopular at the Cape of Good Hope, and a change of Ministry is impending in consequence.' ■ '
