This day.
Mr F. Sutton addressed his constituents at Hastings last night, and was well received. He.dealt-chiefly with the legislation of last session relative to local government.
An Old English Fair, held in aid of the Wesleyan Church funds, was a prand success. An accident happened to the merry-go round last night. The pivot gost worked out of the top socket, and the whole thing came down when going at full, speed. The cars were full of children, who were all thrown out, one being picked up senseless, but otherwise they sustained no injury.
A sharp shock of earthquake was felt here at four o'clock this morning.
The new Volunteer Regulations are not favorably received by the local corps, many of the members regarding them as a death blow /to volunteering in this district. • ■
