The increased emoluments which were accorded to the officers of the Egyptian army under the terrorism which preceded the rebellion have now been revoked, and the former rates of pay will alone be granted.

A daring attempt to shoot a grazier, and two land agents, has been made near Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland. The ■hots fired were unsuccessful, and the intended victims escaped. No clue has yet been obtained as to the perpetrators of the outrage.
It is now officially announced that Sir Julian Pauncefote, legal Under-Secretary, has been appointed permanent UnderSecretary of Foreign Affairs, vice Lord Tenterden deceased.
