Lieutenant« General Sir John Adye, X.C.8., the chief .of staff in Egypt, and second in command to Sir Garnet Wolseley, is to return home immediately, in order to advise the Government as to the steps necessary in regard to the occupation of Egypt, and* preservation of peace. : Prior to embarkation, the Indian troops are to be inspected by H.R.H. the Duke of Connaught. .
A number of the Indian forces, which have been in tfgypt, are to receive medals from the Queen personally.
The trial of the rebel leaders has commenced at Cairo.
