The Refrigerating Co. chartered the s.s. Sorento to load frozen meat.
The health officer's report showed of late there lias beeh* an "alarming increase of scarlet fever. During last month twenty-four cases have been reported. Dr Maunsell has urgently submitted that the Council should not delay in the matter ■of erecting a fever hospital. The Council : resolved to recommend the Government to erect such a building on a portion of^he Dunedin hospital grounds.
The Union Co. are advised of the launching of their new steamer .Tarawera to sail on November 29.
