Auckland, Yesterday. Fobgbby.—William ;Brownle|, aged 35, native of Scotland; was charged with forging and uttering two promissory notes on the loth July last, with intent to defraud James. Brownlee. —The prisoner pleaded guilty, but not with intent to defraud. He said he had fire contracts on hand at the time, and several of them were nearly completed. He forged the name of his brother for the purpose of raising money Jo payr biSi me. n, who had families to support, fully anticipating that he would have been able to have met the bills.—Sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment with hard labor.

BußftLAßT.—Robert Marsh, aged 26, was arraigned upon six indictments, charging him with breaking and entering a number of dwelling-housef, in Auckland and suburbs, and stealing therefrom pro* perty amounting to nearly £2G0.--The prisoner pleaded guilty to all the charges, and on being asked why the sentence of the Court should not be passed upon him. expressed his regret at the dishonest course he had been leading, and hoped. His. Honor would give, him as lenient a sentence as possible, to thus afford him •nearly opportunity of becoming an honest man. He was exceedingly sorry for bis misdeeds.—-His Honor said.that as prisoner had not been previously convicted, and had given the police all the information in his power, and which had led to the recovery of, most of the stolen articles, the sentence would be comparatively light, viz., three years' penal servitude for each offence, sentences to run concurrently.

Thomas Binnings pleaded guilty to two charges of stealing from the person, and was sentenced to 12 months' imprison* ment; and Aubery Fitzgerald, charged with burglary, was sentenced to a similar term.
