Mr J. C. Firth has received a power of attorney to act on behalf ofy the Australian Sugar Co. in the matter of establishing a sugar refining company here.
The harbor debentures, which were supposed to be burnt on board the Alaska, are safe.
The acting Governor, and engineer in charge have approved of the dock plans.
Mr Elmes, late accountant of the Colonial Bank, has been appointed City Treasurer; salary, £300.
A fire at Josephson's store, Karangabape road yesternight did £50 damage before being extinguished.
A requisition asking Mr J. M. Clark to again stand for the Mayoralty is in course of signature.
