Parliamentary Notes.

[By Teleqeaph.l (FBOM OTTB OWN COBBESPONDENT.)

Wellington, Last night,

Rhodes Estate Duty Bill empowers the executors of the late W. Bj Rhodes to pay the assessed succession duty on the property bequeathed to his daughter, Miss Rhodes, which property is valued at £272,796, and the duty at £18,405 5s sd, and it further authorises the Crown to recover that duty notwithstanding the adverse judgment of the Court of Appeal, which has substantially been reversed by the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.

The Council have made up their mind, they say, that they will not be hurried this session as heretofore, but will take their time over the various measures being placed before them. This resolution, if adhered to, may protract the session.
