Losdos, August 15. General Ignatieff, the well known Russian statesman, and late Minister of the Interior, has been arrested by order of the Czar, and the intelligence of the arrest has created great excitement in Russia. The PanSlavist tendencies of the General are well known, aad it is surmised that his arrest is connected with the schemes of the party who are endeavoring to involve .Russia in a war with Germany.

The Boers, who have recently been eucroaching in Western Zululand, have just sustained a severe defeat on the border at the hands of some of the Zulu tribes. The Zulus mustered in strong force, aad fought with great bravery. The losses of th 9 Boers are reported to be ■onsiderable.

A verj' disturbed state of affairs exists at present in South Africa. The Zulus are sullen, and a revolt seems imminent.

The British Besident at the Transvaal has been instructed not to recognise the annexation of native territory recently made by the Boers. Numerous meetings of laborers have been held throughout the country.in connection with the agitation recently started by the Laborers' League. A conference has also taken place at Manchester, at which 2CO English brancbes of the Land League were represented. The report that an anli Christian agitation had broken out in Morocco is without foundation.
