London, August 23 Murderous Land Leaguers.
Ten Land Leaguers have been arrested by the police, charged with the murder of a family at Mullaghadiuma, on the 18th inst. The information upon which the arrests have been made was furnished by an eye-witness of the outrage.
The following special telegrams are from the Auckland Star :—
London, August 21
Sir Leigh Smith's Arctic expedition has been landed at Aberdeen, all well. The Ara was nipped in the ice in August, 1881, and was subsequently abandoned. After wintering, the party rowed and sledged upwards of a thousand miles to reach Nova Zembla, where they were found and rescued by Sir Allan Young's search expedition. Thirteen arrests have been made in connection with the recent murder of a family. The fifth victim of the ontrage has since died, but the sixth is recover* ing. ThePittsburg colliers have been starved into surrendering, and the strike is at an end.
The Chinese Government have passed a resolution expressing regret at the action of Queensland in respect to Chinese immigration.
