Canal: A British President.
The removal of Baron De Lesseps from the presidency of the Suez Canal Company is probable, and it is likely that he will be succeeded either by the present English Consul-General, Sir E. B. Malef, C.8., or the British Vice Consul, Mr Eaphael Borg.
Turkish Press Gagged. The Turkish Press has been warned not to comment on the delay in landing troops in Egypt. The G-eraian Fleet, Ifc is not true that Germany is adding to her fleet of gunboats. Alexandria, August 15. English Troops. The British troops now serving in this country are in good health, and have not been affected by the climate.
Arabi's Position Strong. A reconnaisance of Arabi's present position was made yesterday, and proves that it ia one of considerable military strength, in consequence of the extensive earthworks by which he is defended.
