Wellington, This day. Harris moves in Committee on the Land Bill that every person of the age of 18 years and upwards, and born in the colony, shall be entitled to select and receive a free grant of fifty acres of land out of the waste lands of tbe colony at the expiration of fire years from the selection of such land, provided that such person shall, before the issue of such grant, pay the necessary costs, fees, and charges of surrey of the grant, and shall have bona fide actu* ally and personally resided on the said land so selected, provided further that if such person be a member of a family, any of whom shall have selected land under this section, and adjoining the selection of residence on any such lands adjoining, and selected by any member,of the same such person's family shall be sufficient.
