Solomon Reid's store, Kyber Pass, was burgled yesternight, £12 worth of proi perty being stolen. The thieves were observed and pursued. They dropped a portion of the booty and escaped.
Fears are entertained for the isafety of the schooner Cathona now 38 days out from Port Chalmers for Auckland.
The telephone exchange numbers now 103 subscribers^ and a third enunciator for the accommodation of 50 more is being erected. .
The heavy rain to-day flooded portions of the suburbs, causing considerable damage. ;
