Sir G. Grey p^ave notice that he ?would introduce a bill for the reduction of taxation through the Customs and Property Tax revenues, the deficiency to be, made good by the imposition of a tax on land. Mr Green's Employment of Females Act Amendment Bill t was reported "with amendment and passed.

The School Committees' Election Bill was further considered ]in! Committee; Several new clauses were proposed, when Mi; Macandrew said it would be far better to abide by the Bill.—Mr Sutton moved an an amendment that the word •" householder " should mean any male adult residing within the School District three months prior to the election of the School Committee. —A division took place, with the following result: Ayes, 11; noes, 54—The amendment was lost, and the Bill was reported,. On the Public Offenders Disqualify tion Act Amendment Bill, Mr De Lautour said that he hoped the Bill would not pass with any disqualification clause inserted, and he hoped that the law would remain as at present.

Sir George Grey moved the, second reading of the Land Boards Bill, to make such boards elective.
