The Colonial Bank profits for the half* year are £17,219; a dividend has been declared at the rate of 7 per cent absorbing £14,000. £2,000 have been added to the reserve fund and the balance carried forward.
At the Supreme Court to-day, Thos. Bainage, convicted of rape on his .granddaughter, was sentenced to eight years' imprisonment. In Kitto's case, the jury found him insane, and he was re-corn' mitted:to the Asylum. f
