Thames Borough Council.

A special meeting of the Borough .Council was held at two o'clock this efternoon. Present: The Mayor, Crs Veale, Marshall,Speight,Osborae,Meunie and McGowan.

The Mayor said the local press had been leading the people astray. There was a vote of £92,000, which was from Hamilton to Te Aroha, whereas the newspapers put it from Hamilton to Te Awamutu—a line already completed.— [We may remark that whatever sins the local newspapers have been guilty of, they " followed copy " exactly.] It was proposed by Cr McGowan and seconded by Cr Marshall and carried — "That a committee consisting of Crs Marshall, Speight, Osborne, and the mover be formed to communicate- with Messrs Sheehan and Cadman relative to finishing the railway between the Borough and Te Aroha."
