OUR MINES.

REW PEINCE IMPERIAL.

The manager repoited yesterday as follows:—" The contractors in th'j shaft are making splendid progress since getthrough the hard bar. They are now down 70 feet, and have just cut through a leader fully one foot thick. I have not yet seen any gold in it, though fonie of the stone looks well. I am of opinion that it is either the hangingwall portion of Nc 3 lead that branched off 23 feet down the winze or else it may be the No* 2 lead made again on the east of the slide. We will carry this lead dow.ii in the shaft to the bottom. We are making very good progress with cleaning oufc winze on eastern side of shaft, being now 30 feet. [Since writing the above I have seen a few strong colom of gold in the le:.d in the t shaft.] — G-. S. Clark."— Only two tenders were received for the erection of new poppet legs, &c, and as the prices were high the manager sent them to the directors for consideration. He has received areply stating that neither has been accepted, and authorising him to proceed with the work himself, which he will do as soon as the weather permits. QUEEJS OF BEAUTY. We wish to correct an error which occurred in the report of this mine, published yesterday. The junction of the main and the Queen of the May reefs will probably not be met "with at No. 9 level before the winze is broken into. At No 8 level the junction is over 80 feet east of the winze, and as it does not dip more thau 6ia in every foot, and tlie distance between the two levels is , 60ffc, it should be come upon either in the bottom of ihe winze or a few feet east of it. The trial crushing from the Piako side of the shaft at No. 8 was only 9 bads, making the return 9|dwts\to the load, which is payable.
