The dead body of a man was found yesterday on the beaoh, near the mouth of the Herui river. He was much disfigured) but he has been recognised as John King. His parents are said- to reside in Auck* land, and he was well known at the Thames. An inquest will be held today. Lates. An inquest was held on the body of John King this morning, who was found drowned yesterday near the mouth of the JHenui river. Frora the evidence adduced, it appears that deceased's'father had served in the 43rd .Regiment in tho Waikato, and was a pensioner. Deceased bad been in the AC. Force, and at one time was an apprentice to Mr Lewison, jeweller, Auckland. Deceased had been acting as billiard-marker, but had been drinking heavily lately. A verdict of " Found drowned " was returned.
