At a meeting of Aberdeen delegates o* the-Scotch Land League to-day, represen tations signed by forty thousand farmers were presented, demanding immediate reform of the land law.
It is reported on the L}ndon Stock Exchange that a four million loan for the colony of Victoria will shortly be plaoed on the market.
Paris, December 2.
In the Chamber of Deputies to-day a vote to cover the expenses of the Tunisan campaign was passed after slight opposition. In the course of the debate Gambetta took occasion to refer to the benefits likely to arise from European control of Egypt, and spoke in favor of the same.
Berlin, November 30.
Since the opening of the German Parliament on the 17th ultimo, debates of a disorderly and stormy character have taken place almost daily in the Reichstag. The Progressionist members have made violent speeches, in which strong personal attacks have been made upon the Imperial Chancellor. Prince Bismarck, in reply, has accused the Progressionists of desertion from and hostility to the cause of the Left, and has asserted that he has in consequence been forced to seek the allegiance of the Centre, or Ultramontane party. The debate in the Beichstag continues.
It is announced that the Prussian Government has decided, in view of the friendly relations now existing with the Church of Borne, to appoint a minister to the Vatican. Berlin, December 2. At to-day's sitting of the Biechstag, a proposal was submitted by Prince Bismarck, for the establishment of an Economic Council of the Empire, and was finally discussed. The Chancellor in a lengthy speech warmly advocated the adoption of the proposal, but after a lengthy debate the same was rejected by the Beichstag by a considerable majority. Washington, December 1. ; The trial of Guietau continues. The prisoner was examiued by counsel at great length today. In his replies he detailed the impulses which led him to commit the crime, and ascribed the same to the Deity.
At the Tariff Convention now sitting at New York, the delegates of 25 States have made speeches in favor of increased protection being afforded through the tariff to local industry.
