A desperate correspondent, signing himself 'J. Okor,' after seven months' sojourn in the bash, sends the Wanganui Herald the following:—" Sir, —Will you kindly inform we whether I am correct in ijjy surmise as to the etymology of the Wprd,' dyuamite ' now in extensive use for Czar and other purposes- 4a inventor having discovered a new explosive com* pound, after experimenting with it upon many substances, placed some in a cheese, exploded the charge, and when he. looked round to examiue the effect, exclaimed with mingled surprise and mortification, 'By. Jove' there's not enough left to dins a aits.' Senee its aasse."
