OUR MINES.
ALBUENIA. The Manager reports, under date 21st November, as follows:—"Sons of Freedom Tunnel: This drive has been ex. tended a distance of 15 feet during tup fortnight, making a total of 100 feet. This completes'the present contract, and I have called for fresh tenders for another 100 feet, returnable on Wednesday next. There is no change in the appearance of the reef since last report. I hare decided to put in a crosscut a short distance in the hanging wall, to ascertain if there is anf portion of the reef standing in that direction, as the country adjoining is of such a quality as to lead me to expect to find quartz of a superior class to that now .being driven ( on. 160 feet level, winze: Better progress has been made in sinking during the past week, 13 feet having been completed, making now a total distance of 104 feet sunk from the 160 feet level. Owing to the great depth of the winze, I have asked Mr Bayldon to mark the spot in the So . of Freedom tunnel where I may start to rise to meet the winze. He is to-day making a survey of the work, and in a few days I will start the men engaged in the face to rise to meet the winze, as there is not sufficient air to carry oa the drive and rise at the same time. Some of the tributes lately let have been' thrown up, and a few of the parties are still working with varied success, but none are doing anything extraordinary. — Thos. Ribsokd." GOLD EETUBNS.
