CURE.
The drive north on the cross-lead has been extended a distance of 60 feet from the stopes on Clark's lead, and has inter* seoted Rrownlee's lead, for which purpose it was put in, This lead is on the footwall of the famous No 2 reef, and where worked at a higher level some time ago proved well worth taking out. As yet very little of the quartz has been broken down, only two shots having been fired in it. Where broken out, it is about nine inches in thickness, and of a very favourable class of quartz. The minerals contained in it are principally silvery mundic and iron pyrites, so it will probably cruih payably. OLD GOLDEN CALF. Stoping has been, temporarily suspended and the men put to work on the reef lower down about tb6 level of ihs drive. The quarts from here is not so good as that taken from the stopes. For some days the manager had the men employed on the footwall portion of the reef, but this did not turn out good enough at the battery, so work on it was stopped. MOANATAIRI. Cleaning up for the company eventuated yesterday, after about a fortnight's run at the battery. The retorted return weighed 161028. tad ou beiug melted .vras reduced
to 16Oozs 15dwts gold. This is the pro duct of 152 tons of general crushing dirt. WATHL In the Little Tommy claim the reef has been struck. It is three feet wide, and sbows gold freely. The shareholders are delighted, and the prospects are most satisfactory and encouraging. GOLD RETURNS. Caledonian. —A trial crushing of 6 loads for Paltridge and party yielded 2ozs 19dwts gold. JKttbantji Hill —-Dabb and party have crushed 2 loads for the return of lozs sdwts gold. Stab of Te Papa.—A parcel of gold weighing 3ozs 4dwts was banked from this claim to-day.
