WARDEN'S COURT.
YESTERDAY. (Before H. Kenrick, Esq., R.M.)
The Court resumed at 2 o'clock yesterday, when the following cases were dealt with:—
MCLEAN T. T. B. ELETCHEB,
This was a plaint for the forfeiture of the Ohaupo Boys' Claim at Waitekauri on the ground of non-working. The plaintiff asked for an adjournment for a fortnight to enable him to serve defendant with a subp»na.—Granted. O. A. COBNEB V. GILL. This was a plaint to obtain possession of the same piece of ground as that sued for in the last case, the present plaint being laid on a previous pegging. Mr Miller appeared for the plaintiff, and called John Gill, who deposed that he first pegged out the ground on the 29th September, and abandoned and re-pegged it on the 22nd October. About a fortnight's work for one man had been done on the ground. After hearing the evidence of J. B. Fletcher the Court declared the ground forfeited,. and awarded it to plaintiff with COite, £5 lls,
J. BLAIN V. EBWAKD ECCLES. J A plaint for the forfeiture of the Jupiter claim, Waihi.
Mr Miller appeared for the defendant and admitted that the ground had not been worked, but said his client had no intention of abandoning tho ground. The same ground had been pegged out by another party and a license applied for, to which his client had lodged an objection, and he was under the impression that he was therefore not compelled to man the ground. The Court considered the ground forfeited, and awarded it to the plain!iff with costs, 18s.
