COUNTY ELECTIONS.

Sib,—What kind of councillors has the Thames County had P A question was put last erenioß by Mr W. Wood to Mr Deeble—who seeks re election for the Kauaeranga Riding—conoerniog a sum of money amounting to £10,000, which is not accounted for in the County's printed official document for 1879-80. In that document it appears that the Thames County bad through their hands in that official year £30,900, and oftly spent £21,000. Mr Wood wanted Mr Stable to account for the large oTefplus,in<thad a right, as a ratepayer, to expect an I intelligent reply, but he did not, get-it. Neither Mr Deeble nor Mr BagnaU, who was present seemingly .to •ssisi Mr Deeble in his answers, could gire such reply, neither could remember wb«t was done with so large a sum as £10,000. Old councillors, one would think ought to be well enough informed in matters of County business to hare at once given an intelligent 'and straightforward reply to the question of Mr W.; but no, for some reason or other the question was evaded, though no doubt it can be answered, and ought to have been answered for the satisfaction of the ratepayers, and especially by a candidate for re election—l am, &c, '.:'■<:" Obssbteb.
