fpBOM THE COEOMANDEL MAIL.] Maoei Win. —The contractors are still pushing in the face of the low level in hard country. They advanced eight feel during the )ast fortnight. In No. 1 level the leader is twelve inches wide, showing great improvement. On the Tiki claim side the reef is heavily minerHlised, and gold may any time be chronicled. Mining matters on the Tokatea Hill are getting very brisk, and good gold is being got in various mines. The Tokatea mine haye been successful in striking gold in the rise nearest the Bismarck boundary ; four or five pounds of stone were knocked out on Wednesday, worth half an ounce to the pound. The Bismarck also got out good stone from the low level. The Colonial have obtained upwards of 100 pounds of specimens, and the Comstock handled 21 pounds. Some important discoTery is reported somewhere on the hill, but the nature of it is not yet made public. Ness-side. —Steady work is being carried on with good results, gold showing freely in the stone broken out, and a satisfactory crushing may be anticipated. Comstock.—Twenty one pounds of good specimens were banked during the week, and gold seen in a new leader in the low level.
Quebm of THE Noeth (Stevens and Mayne'a Tribute). —A parcel of stuff is being:,,crushed at the Bismarck battery, - and .aJjJay able yield expected. The ground in the low level shows a change for the better: it ,is now in 65 feet. Two shifts are now at work! Stoping operations.. have been attended with satisfactory results. About lOOlbs of "Specimens are to hand, and good crushing is accumulating. A crosscut leader has: been carried in 30 feet, and No. 2 leader has been intersected.

This Company offered to pay half the expense of driving on the fcuceess leader from the present face—a distance of 150 f ee t—to their boundary, but this offer to contribute half the expense was not agreed to, although the work is one which should prove beneficial to the Success Company, as it would open up a valuable block of ground.
