During the past few days a break has occurred in the reef at the intermediate level, but the country is now resuming its previous character, and the reef is again becoming solid and denned. Ihe manager yesterday saw gold in it inside the break, so there is reason to suppose \y will continue payable. An interim E*. tortingtook place to-day at the Hefald battery, and the gojdjrhjminelted weighed 2130zs 6dwtß. Tnis7ii~tn~eproduce of about three weeks' run at the battery, during which time 108 loads of quart? have been crushed. WAIOTAHI. The manager cleaned up for the month to day. The total quantity of quartz crushed is 265 tons, and the yield of melted gold 4OBozs sdwts. SOUTHEJiN CROSS.
On Friday night last 30lbs of picked stone were bagged from the No. 1 reef west of the old winze. The specimen leader south of/ winze is looking a little better in the face now than it did last week. Crushing is still going on at the Alburnia mill.
MOANATAIKI. The battery started yesterday with the full force, 25 being put on the company's stuff and 15 on tributers. Eea and party's tribute time has expired, and work will be commenced in their section on behalf of the company shortly. GOLD EETURNB. Pinafobe. —Hickey and party have crushed about 21" loads of quartz at the Queen of Beauty battery for the return of 58ozs retorted gold. City ©p Manchester.—Brownlee and party have banked 21ozs 17dwts gold. Hapje Ceeek.—-Gentles and party lodged 2ozs 18dwts gold at the Bank yesterday. Green and party have finished a small crushing for. the return of 2ozi 4dwts gold. Kubanui Hill.—Johns and party have crushed 4§- tons at the Herald bal tcry for the return of 12ozs lOdwts retorted gold.
