Serious Accident.

We regret to learn that a serious.accident happened this morning about 11 o'clock to Mr Wm. Bead, brother of Mr John Bead, timber merchant, Grahamstown. Mr Read was standing on the top shelf of the limber, shed, about 16 feet from the ground, handing down some timber, . when by some means he lost his footing and fell heavily to the ground, landing on his head. Mr H. C. Gillespie, who was passing at the time ran to his assistance, and at first thought he was killed, as he remained motimless and, insensible. After procuring some help Mr Gillespie went for Dr Kilgour, and was fortunate enough to -find him near at hand. , In. about a quarter of an hour Mr Bead came to, and at bis own request was moved in a cab to Mr Ensor's Post Office Hotel in Mary stret t. Dr Kilgour is of opinion that he will soon get right again, but the fall has given a severe shock to the spine. We hope it may not prove serious, and that Mr Bead will soon be about again as well as ever. Since writing the above we learn that Mr Bead is much better.
