The King Barking Bill passed in Committee of the Legislative Council on -the twelfth, and the third reading ou the following day. The Assembly carried the Local Option Clause in the Licensing Bill after a long debate. The Church of England Synod continues its sittings duily, and the subject of marriage with a deceased wife's lister has been debated without any definite result. A resolution was adopted recording the deep sympathy of the Church of England with all true members and branches of the Protestant Church. No fresh small-pox cases during the pre^ sent week. The Denford family atPymonfl are, however, seriously affected. Ou(| child, Esther, died on the 13th, and anj infant succumbed on the following dayif The others are carefully quarantined anjfc nursed. The patients at the quarantin ground progress satisfactorily. 1| Lieutenant Phillip and two men- ok H.M.S. Alacrity, while surveying the islands of Yedna, Fiji, were drowned on the 6th of September through the capsiz ing of their boat. *
