London, October 13. Tho Arrest of Parnell.
Later accounts to hand from Ireland state that Parnell was arrested at his hotel in Dublin under a warrant of the Viceroy, issued in accordance with the provisions of the -Coercion Act. He was conveyed to Kilmainham Gaol, and will there be kept in custody. A meeting of the Irish National Land League was held to-day, when Dillon was appointed to succeed Parnell in the leadership. Lokdon, October 14. It has transpired that the warrant under which Parnell was arrested charged him with the intimidation of people to prevent their utilising the land under the Act, or paying rents.
Since Parnell's arrest, several meetings of the Land League have been held in Ireland, at which defiant speeches were made by prominent Leaguers. Consider* able excitement has been caused throughout the country by the action of the Executive, and the feeling is extending. Calcutta, October 13.
Telegrams have been received from Afghanistan announcing that another great battle has been fought between the foroes of the Ameer and Ayoub Khan, resulting in the complete defeat of the latter. Further telegrams, moreover, report that the Ameer has since occupied Herat, and that Ayoub Khan has fled to Persia; but this intelligence requires confirmation.

Private telegrams have been received here stating that the frost has destroyed fully twenty-five per cent,, of the Virginia tobacco crop.
His Honor Mr Justice Molesworth, who has for some time been in ill health, has recovered, and has resumed his duties on the Bench.
