OUR MINES.

ALBJIBNIA, ; The following is the mine manager's report to the Directors,' under date the 13th October, 1881;:—Gentlemen,—"I have the honor to report as follows :-— New Low Level : I yesterday started two men to drire on a liader that was cut through some time since in this drive; it looks very promising, but so little has been done on it I cannot say much about it for a few days. This le*der; was very rich, and yielded a; large amount of gold whan worked upon over where we purpose driving. : Sons of Freedom Tunnel: This drive has been extended 45 feet into our own ground, since passing through the Whau ground. The reef at present is two and a balf feet wide with good walls and in a good sandstone country. As far as the ground is concerned, it is all that could be wished for, and I hope soon to be able to inform.you that'we are on payable quartz here. 160 feet level: The winze is still, being sunk from this level,' and is now down 63 feet The reef here is three feet wide, aud well defined, but we do not see any <;old as yet. Hanging wall leader: We aro driving and stopmg on this leader, and very often see colors of gold when it is broken down. Whau level: Success reef—We are still driving east and west here. This leader has been split up for some short time, and does not look so well as it did some sho/t" time since, but it is very patchy, and may improve at any breaking down, vWe got a few stone, yesterday in the western drive showing colors of gold. This is the first gold we have seen in the drive since it was started. Hanging wall leader: We have now driven 43 feet in the solid block left standing by Christie and^party, tributers, and have not as yet found anything good although we have abundance of first class mineral, and occasionally see colors of gold.—l have; &e.;j TW9i Ei-DSOBD." ;. ■■ :....; /•■.■,!
