(To,the Editor of the Evening Star.) Sir,-—I perceive from an article in the Advertiser that an attempt is being made to induce Mr Sheehan to offer himself for the Thames. It Johnny takes my advice, he won't. We do not want any outsider here ; there are half-a-dozen local men to choose from, none of them perhaps up to the mark, but yet they are local men. We have had quite enough of misrepresentation, or nou-representation by men who, once they were returned, neglected the district altogether. We want reliable men, men who will at least keep their word. Sir, promises may be like piecrusts, made to be proken, but nevertheless we don't waiit pie-crusts, we want men of principle. I see the Coromandel people are bringing put their local men, and if ihey take my advice they will not go from home to look for a representative. —I am, &c, Honesty.
