Parliament was prorogued at noon today. - ■' ■ ' :■'■■ ■-■ '■'''■' On the House meeting, the returns of the business transacted during the session was laid on the table.
The return showed that 58 public bills rriginated in the House had received the Royal assent; one-had been reserved for Her Majesty's pleasure, and 69 had been dropped or otherwise disposed of. From the Council 16 had received assent and 14 had been dropped. 297 petitions had been received from Europeans and 88 from Maoris. Days of meeting, 72; hours of sitting, 565. Questions asked of Ministers, 500.
