Farther heats in the International Eegatta, were rowed to-day, and resulted in Paris, Boulay, and Hamon taking first places. In their contests Tricketfc and Gandar came in second. Paris, September 10. Telegrams are to hand from Tunis announcing that renewed fighting has taken place between the French troops and the Arab insurgents in the neighbor- j of Gallipona. The European inhabitants, 'of tho town are panic stricken, and hare | taken refuge on board the shipping in the port. The foreign Consuls resident there have telegraphed to their Governments for assistance. Calcutta, Sept. 11. Intelligence is to hand irora Afghanistan reporting that Ameer Abdul Rahman has refused fresh overtures on the part of Ayoub Khan for a suspension of hostilities, and has now commenced his advance from Ehelat on Candahar. In compliance with a request made to him, Prince Bismarck promised at an early date to introduce a bill in the German Parliament providing for the restoration of Legation to the Vatican, and the resumption of diplomatic relations between the Imperial Government and the Holy See. Alexandbia, September 9. A serious disturbance occurred to-day at Cairo. A large body of Egyptian troops with their officers assembled before the palace of the Khedive, and demanded that an assembly of nobles should be called together and the present Ministers dismissed. The Khedive, after consideration of the demand, caused the troops to be informed that he woald I grant their request for dismissal of the | Ministers and officers, and the men then i dispersed. New York, September 9. Owing to the continued dry weather, serious forest fires have occurred in the State of Michigan. Hundreds of farms have been completely destroyed by the conflagration, and over 200 deaths have resulted. The destruction of property is enormous, and thousands have been rendered homeless.
