Mr Greenville commenced crushing for the tributers yesterday. NEW GOLDEN" CROWN. The mine manager reportsasfollows :—« " 100 feet lev ( el: No 1 reef on this le**l', . has now been opened up a distance of '" feet in-length, and the stopes are now in good working order, and from them a good supply of payable quartz is coming to - hand. The drive on this reef to' the north west of main crosscut, has been discontinued for the, present, and the men re- r moved into the stopes according .to instructions received. No 2 reef at the same level, The stopes here have been■ <••- pushed forward, and the reef is improving much as the stopes approach the slide on the south east of main crosscut. - Although, hut little gold has yet been seeni the indications are good, and the stuff from bore now is shaping much better at the battery. Battery, level: The only >' work now being carried on at present on this level is the stopes on the footwall leader, which' have been carried up '-a - I considerable height above the back of the i drive,- almost -sufficiently to meet" the ': surface level, which is now 'being driven ' ! along the course of this leader, add in due '; course all the quartz from these stopes '. will pass through this surface lerel to the battery, and will be a great advantage to , the working of this portion of the mine.. ,-, Cleaning up and retorting took place on <»• - the 31st ult, for the payable, yield of ■ 3040zs lOdtr.ts of. melted gold.
