A banquet was given last night to i.Vlr Dillon, M.P. for Tipperary, who was recently leleascd from Jiilmainham gaol by a uuoiber of his frieuds and sympathisers. Sereral Home Jiule members were present, aud Mr Dillon, in the course of his speech in reply to the toast of his health, alluded^to the Irish Land Act, which he characterised as worthless. He further announced his intention of resigning his seat for Tipperary,, 1 aud retiring into private life. An inquiry, which has been held into the cause of the disaster to H.M.S. Dotereli, which took place in.the fctraits of Magellan in May last, has resulted in finding that the explosion was due to the absence of ventilation iv the magazine.
The English Cricketers embark at Liverpjol on the 17th of September for America, en route for New Zealand n.nd Australia.

Telegrams have been received from Tunis, announcing that the Arabs in the neighbourhood of Louisa, a port on the Tunisian Coast, hare made threat-erring demonstrations towards the inhabitant of the town, and the latters position is considered very unsafe. It is probable therefore that a body of French troops, now in Tunis, will immediately occupy Louisa for the purpose of opposing the threatened attack by the Arabs.
