Wellington, This day. In the House to-day the report of the committee on the direct steam service was brought up by Mr Macandrew and ordered to be considered on the 13th. of September. It recommends arranging for such a service by giving a guarantee of six per cent on a capital not exceeding one million.

The report of the English actuaries on the Government Insurance Department was laid on the table.
