During last night's discussion Hursthouse challenged the Government to appeal to the country, and Kolleston's reply was, that the Government were not afraid to go to the country, as they were convinced it would support them, but they would be neglecting their plain duty to allow such an appeal until the representation had beeu re adjusted by the new bill.
Yesterday
Advices by the English mail announce that Mr Creorge £>. Graha^i, District Grand Master of Auckland E. G\, has been appointed a member ot the Supreme Council of England, and as such with the highest Masonic degree possible, namely 33.
Professor Rolleston, whose death is announced by the English mail, was brother to the Hon Minister for Native Affairs.
