Inspector of Weights and pleasures for Hauraki District.
By an order bearing date 30fli July last, Mis Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Thomas ; O'Grady to be an Inspector of Weights and Measures for the Uauraki District. We are glad to learn that this appointmenfthas been made, but is there not such a thing as heaping two many offices on the shoulders of one unfortunate civil servant now that amalgamation of offices is the order of the day ; and, moreover, we are sorry to learn that the unfortunate man —upon whom are heaped those honors for his success as Officer in charge of Police in the district, and Licensing Office, receives as remuneration just nine shillingsl a day, and this, we are informed, after a faithful serrice of twenty years.
