Our Auckland correspondent, speaking of" the Irish Question and newspaper writers, says:—Anonymous writers in the Auckland papers are waxing strong over the actionof hon. members who have taken a prominent part in the Irish question at a recent meeting in Wellington. This may be all very well from whatever standpoint the question is looked at, but judging from all recent gazette appointments made by the Honorable J. Hall's Cabinet, it would appear to be the rule that "no Irish need apply " as they are oil Scotchmen. This, however, I suppose, is of no moment, fcr such marked natural distinctions in the matter of public honors affd public employment will be very satisfactory to the likes of Mr David Goldie and other real Christian gentlemen. That the recent agitation connected with the Irish question has forced an amendment in the matter on the House of Commons cannot be doubted. This in itself is a matter, of great importance for my unfortunate countrymen.
