RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

THIS DAY.

(Before H. Kenrick, Esq., 8.M.) AGNEW's CASE.

This case which was adjourned yester day to enable the Court to hear the state> ment of the boy's father, was called.

James Agnew, the father of Samuel Aj>new, said he had used every endeavor to keep the boy in, but could not. The boy had been sent to school since he was six years old. He was unable to contribute to his support.

His Worship said it was evidently a case where it was to the boy's interest that he be sent to the Training school, and he would make an order that he be sent there till he was 15 years of age. He thought the names of persons who would buy goods from a boy of that age should be given to the police to see if they could do anything in the way of prosecuting them for larceny. FAILING TO SUPPORT. Lawrence's case was again called, and Mr Mason put a paper into Court offering to give Lawrence work for the Borough at stone-breaking at 3s 6d per yard. His Worship said a reasonable amount would be deducted from his wages to pay off the account against him for rations supplied to his wife. Lawrence said he would accept the work, and His Worship said he would delay the application to send defendant to prison for disobeying a Court order for one mouth, to see if he did his work properly. Court adjourned.
