This day,
A young man named Soott, aged 22, employed on the Invercargill-Riverton railway, while shooting a lew days ago bad his thumb blown off by the contents of the charge, part of the thumb bone lodging in his shoulder. He lingered till yesterday wheu lie died, mortification having set in.
